Ingredients

  • 4 apples
  • 0.5 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 125 g butter
  • 1 dl caster sugar
  • 2 dl high-fibre oats or regular oats
  • 0.5 dl plain flour
  • 0.5 dl sunflower seeds
  • 2.5 dl vanilla cream or custard for serving

Method

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 225 C or 210 C fan.
  2. 2Core the apples and cut them into wedges.
  3. 3Place the apples in an ovenproof dish and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  4. 4Melt the butter in a saucepan.
  5. 5Mix in the sugar, oats, flour, and sunflower seeds into a crumbly topping.
  6. 6Spread the crumble over the apples.
  7. 7Bake in the middle of the oven for about 20 minutes until golden.
  8. 8Serve warm or lukewarm with lightly whipped vanilla cream or custard.

Tips & tricks

  • Toss the apples with cinnamon and sugar and let them sit for 10 minutes before adding to the dish.
  • Keep the crumble uneven — do not press it down too tightly for a lighter, crispier result.
  • Serve fresh from the oven with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream while the crumble is still crisp.
