Old Fashioned with a clear balance of acidity, sweetness, and aroma, adapted for home bar use with common ingredients and simple steps.

• 40 ml base spirit or liqueur
• 20 ml acidity, such as lemon or lime
• 20 ml sweetness, such as sugar syrup or fruit juice
• Ice for glass and shaker
• Sparkling mixer or water depending on style
• Garnish, for example citrus zest, mint, or berries

Method

   Chill the serving glass in advance with ice or in the freezer.

   Measure all ingredients carefully with a jigger for consistent flavour.
