Classic American chocolate chip cookies – crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle with loads of chocolate chips. Hugely popular and easy to bake.
Ingredients
- 225 g butter (room temperature)
- 2 dl caster sugar
- 2 dl brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 300 g chocolate chips
Method
- 1Beat butter and both sugars until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
- 2Add eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla.
- 3Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl. Fold into the butter mixture.
- 4Stir in the chocolate chips.
- 5Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- 6Preheat oven to 180°C. Line baking trays with parchment paper.
- 7Shape balls (about 2 tbsp dough each) and space well apart on the trays.
- 8Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are golden but the centres still look slightly underdone.
- 9Leave to cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring.
