Chocolate Chip Cookies

Classic American chocolate chip cookies – crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle with loads of chocolate chips. Hugely popular and easy to bake.

Ingredients

  • 225 g butter (room temperature)
  • 2 dl caster sugar
  • 2 dl brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 dl all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 300 g chocolate chips

Method

  1. 1Beat butter and both sugars until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
  2. 2Add eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla.
  3. 3Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl. Fold into the butter mixture.
  4. 4Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. 5Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  6. 6Preheat oven to 180°C. Line baking trays with parchment paper.
  7. 7Shape balls (about 2 tbsp dough each) and space well apart on the trays.
  8. 8Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are golden but the centres still look slightly underdone.
  9. 9Leave to cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring.
