Crispy and thin Swedish gingerbread cookies with cinnamon, ginger and cloves. A Christmas classic that smells of the season and looks as good as it tastes.
Ingredients
- 200 g butter
- 2 dl sugar
- 0.5 dl dark syrup
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1 egg
- approx. 7 dl all-purpose flour
Method
- 1Melt butter with sugar, syrup and spices in a saucepan. Leave to cool to room temperature.
- 2Stir in the egg. Mix bicarbonate with a little flour and stir in, then add the rest.
- 3Bring together into a smooth dough. Wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- 4Preheat oven to 200°C. Roll out the dough thinly (about 2 mm) on a floured surface.
- 5Cut out shapes and place on baking parchment.
- 6Bake for 5–7 minutes until crisp. Cool on a rack.
