Oven-Baked Pulled Pork

Juicy pulled pork slow-cooked in the oven with a smoky dry rub and BBQ sauce. Perfect in burgers, tacos or served alongside coleslaw.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg pork shoulder
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 dl BBQ sauce

Method

  1. 1Mix all the spices and brown sugar into a dry rub.
  2. 2Coat the pork shoulder thoroughly with the spice mix on all sides. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. 3Preheat oven to 150°C.
  4. 4Place the meat in a roasting tin and cover tightly with foil.
  5. 5Cook in the oven for 5–6 hours until the meat is very tender and pulls apart easily with a fork.
  6. 6Remove the meat and let it rest for 15 minutes. Pull apart with two forks.
  7. 7Mix the shredded meat with BBQ sauce and serve in burger buns with coleslaw.
